Product Description

180DS Mechanical Indexer Overview

The HONEPAN 180DS mechanical indexer is engineered for larger dial plates and heavier tooling where structural rigidity matters most. Its oversized output table and reinforced bearing arrangement spread load evenly across all stations, keeping every fixture square and stable throughout the indexing cycle even under substantial off-center forces.

This heavy-load rotary indexing solution combines a deeply hardened globoidal cam with precision needle roller followers to deliver smooth intermittent motion with a positive mechanical lock. The 180DS handles the demanding duty cycles of automotive welding positioners, heavy test fixtures, and large assembly dials with confidence.

Working Principle

Continuous input rotation is converted into intermittent output rotation through the engagement of the globoidal cam rib with the output turret's rollers. During each index, the cam advances the table one station; during dwell, the cam's flat section locks the table rigidly. This mechanical lock requires no power to maintain, ensuring safe, repeatable positioning at all times.

Key Features

  • Reinforced output table supports heavy multi-station dials
  • High overturning-moment capacity resists off-center tooling
  • Hardened cam and rollers deliver maintenance-friendly durability
  • Optional hydraulic clamping for extreme holding force
  • Deep-hardened cam profile withstands shock and impact loading
  • Sealed housing protects against chips, dust, and coolant
  • Long-life imported bearings for continuous multi-shift operation

Applications

Common in automotive welding positioners and fixtures, large assembly dials, heavy test benches, and multi-station processing equipment. The 180DS is the preferred choice when a rotary table must carry substantial weight without compromising accuracy.

Customization & Support

We customize the 180DS for your exact dial diameter, station count, and clamping requirements. Our engineers provide FEA-verified mounting recommendations and lifetime after-sales support.

FAQ — Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is a cam indexer and how does it work?

A cam indexer converts continuous motor rotation into precise intermittent (stop-and-go) rotary motion. A hardened globoidal cam engages needle roller followers on the output turret, advancing it one station per revolution and mechanically locking it during dwell — no electronic feedback, sensor, or brake is required.

2. What is the output type of the 180DS?

The 180DS features a Table / Dial output, making it easy to mount dial plates, flanges, or fixtures directly. Its compact footprint integrates smoothly into automated assembly, packaging, and inspection workstations.

3. How many indexing stations are available?

The 180DS supports 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12 (customizable). We can also custom-grind the cam profile for a different station count or dwell angle to match your exact production sequence.

4. What is the indexing accuracy?

Indexing accuracy is ±30 Sec. with repositioning accuracy of ±4 arcsec (±2 arcsec). This mechanical precision is maintained over a long service life thanks to the backlash-free cam-and-roller design.

5. What load and torque can it handle?

Please refer to the Technical Specifications table above for the allowable radial/axial loads (C1–C3), bending force (C4), input torque (C5), GD² (C6), and weight. For safety, all C1–C5 values are rated at a safety factor of 2.

6. Can you customize stations, dwell angle, or mounting interface?

Yes. We customize the number of stations, driving angle, dwell angle, cam curve, and mounting interface to your requirements. Send us your dial diameter, station count, payload, and cycle time for a tailored recommendation.

7. What is the MOQ, lead time, and warranty?

MOQ is 1 piece. Standard models ship within 4–20 days, and custom configurations may take longer. Every unit carries a 1-year warranty, a 60,000-hour design service life, and lifetime technical support.

8. What industries use HONEPAN cam indexers?

Our cam indexers are widely used in automated assembly, filling and capping, packaging, inspection, and machining systems across the automotive, electronics, hardware, pharmaceutical, and food industries.
